Flow Chart of Bio-polishing Process

Bio-polishing:

Bio-polishing is a finishing process that enhances fabric quality by decreasing the pilling tendency and fuzziness of (cellulose) knitted fabrics. This finishing process applied to cellulose textiles that produce permanent effects by the use of enzymes. It’s main targets the removal of the small fiber ends protruding from the yarn surface and thereby reduces the hairiness or fuzz of the fabrics. Process flow chart of Bio-polishing are as follows:

Bio-polishing is a process that enhances fabric quality by decreasing the pilling tendency and fuzziness of fabrics. This finishing process applied to both cotton fabrics or garments. That produce a permanent effect by the use of Enzymes. This process removes protruding fibers and slubs from cotton fabrics significantly reduces pilling, softens the fabric, and provides a smooth fabric appearance.

In recent years enzymes have found a variety of uses in textile applications. Popular uses are stone washing of denim and surface modification of cellulosic fabrics to improve their appearance and handle. Bio-finishing with cellulase is carried out both on pieces as well as made-up apparel. It can be carried out before or after dyeing. Matzyme BIO-F is a cellulase enzyme, which eliminates the dead cotton. Matzyme DS is very effective in de-pilling as well as surface hair removal.

Fabric treated with enzymes are free from surface hairiness and neps with much-improved handle and flexibility. The fabric surface becomes smoother and more lustrous. There is also a lower tendency to further pilling possibly due to the fact that there is fewer protruding fiber ends from the yarns.

The advantage of using enzymes is environmentally friendly since they are readily biodegradable. Bio-finishing is also known as bio-polishing, is a finishing process applied to cellulose textiles that produce permanent effects by the use of enzymes.
